Una lezione di Educazione civica sulla tutela del patrimonio culturale: Il teatro inglese

L’educazione alla tutela del patrimonio culturale è uno degli obiettivi primari all’interno dell’insegnamento di educazione civica in attuazione dell’art.9 della Costituzione: ‘La Repubblica promuove lo sviluppo della cultura e la ricerca scientifica e tecnica.  Tutela il paesaggio e il patrimonio storico artistico della nazione’.

Il patrimonio culturale appare come una categoria molto vasta alla quale si può attingere per svolgere tantissime lezioni e attività interessanti. In questo articolo vorrei soffermarmi in particolare su un ambito ben preciso, quello del teatro, partendo da una mia personale esperienza e proponendo alcune attività da svolgere in classe.

 

Un compito di realtà

“Il teatro a scuola”

Il teatro è da considerarsi a tutti gli effetti una espressione culturale. Partendo da questo presupposto e trovandomi a dover decidere quali attività inserire nella programmazione di educazione civica, ho deciso di proporre ai miei alunni un laboratorio di teatro. Ho compiuto questa scelta anche alla luce di alcune considerazioni legate al particolare anno di pandemia che stavamo vivendo e alla necessità di individuare un’attività che potesse sviluppare il più possibile aspetti relazionali e creativi, facendo uscire così i ragazzi da una sorta di isolamento e autoreferenzialità.

 

Gli obiettivi:

  • Acquisizione di competenze di letteratura e di nuovo lessico.
  • Potenziamento delle abilità di produzione orale e perfezionamento della pronuncia
  • Consapevolezza personale
  • Acquisizione di un metodo di lavoro di gruppo

Di seguito propongo le varie fasi del progetto e i riferimenti al materiale.

Step 1: Il contesto storico e l’autore

Il primo passo da compiere nello svolgere questo tipo di progetto è individuare un testo adeguato da proporre agli studenti. Sarà possibile scegliere un opera slegata dalla programmazione e dal periodo storico trattato durante l’anno, oppure, rimanere attinenti al programma e approfondire  un autore già conosciuto dagli studenti. Per quanto riguarda la mia esperienza, ho scelto di proporre alla classe la rappresentazione di due opere di Shakespeare “Amleto” e “ Sogno di una notte di mezza estate” .

In generale  il primo step dovrà toccare i seguenti punti:

  • Introduzione al contesto storico
  • Presentazione dell’autore, della sua opera e delle tematiche principali
  • Lettura e analisi dell’opera prescelta per la rappresentazione
  • Scelta, condivisione e lettura di un copione
  • Assegnazione delle parti


Step 2:  Il materiale

Per quanto riguarda il materiale, oltre ai soliti testi contenuti nel manuali di letteratura, sarà interessante far vedere alla classe vari video nei quali viene rappresentata l’opera in modo che possano avere un esempio chiaro e diretto delle scene che andranno a recitare.

In particolare segnalo il sito British Coucil Learn English Kids nel quale sono presenti video delle principali operae di Shakespeare e schede di approfondimento.

Anche su Youtube è possibile trovare svariati video di recite e rappresentazioni.

Step 3: La rappresentazione

La rappresentazione teatrale sarà impostata secondo una struttura molto semplice e la connotazione dei personaggi avverrà attraverso simboli o elementi che li contraddistinguono: una corona, una spada, una mantello e così via. La scenografia, come nel mio caso, potrà essere realizzata in collaborazione con l’insegnante di arte e tecnologia seguendo un principio di didattica trasversale.

Step 4: La valutazione

Per quanto riguarda la valutazione si terrà conto dei seguenti criteri:

  • Espressione orale e correttezza della pronuncia
  • Attitudine alla cooperazione e al lavoro di gruppo
  • Impegno e spirito di iniziativa

 

Analisi del testo teatrale

Un’approccio tradizionale

Mentre il compito di realtà risulta essere un’attività didattica dinamica e molto accattivante, è tuttavia possibile applicare una modalità più tradizionale di lettura e analisi di un testo teatrale.

Di seguito propongo alcuni step finalizzati allo svolgimento di esercizi di comprensione e analisi  adeguati ad una classe di scuola secondaria di primo grado utili durante la lezione , come compito a casa oppure come verifica in classe.

Step 1: Il contesto storico e l’autore

In generale il primo step dovrà toccare i seguenti punti:

  • Introduzione al contesto storico
  • Presentazione dell’autore, della sua opera e delle tematiche principali
  • Lettura e analisi dell’opera prescelta

 

Step 2: Analisi del testo

Dopo aver presentato l’autore e la sua opera verrà richiesto agli studenti di svolgere esercizi di comprensione e analisi.

Alcuni esempi relative a tre argomenti principali:

  • Shakespeare, la vita e le opera
  • Amleto
  • Sogno di una notte di mezza estate

SHAKESPEARE

  • He helped build a new theatre called The Globe, which opened in 1599.

  3. At first, Demetrius loves Hermia, Hermia loves Lysander and Helena loves Demetrius.
  4. The next morning, Demetrius and Helena are in love and Lysander and Hermia are in love.
  5. Puck and Oberon take the magic spells away from Lysander, Bottom and Titania.

Step 3: La valutazione

Per quanto riguarda la valutazione si terrà conto dei seguenti criteri:

  • Correttezza nella produzione scritta
  • Comprensione del testo e rielaborazione personale
