English Only in Monolingual classes

In this practical session, we will focus on keeping students motivated to speak English consistently throughout the lesson, even when everyone in the room shares the same first language. You will discover simple yet effective classroom routines, interactive games, and quick strategies that encourage teenagers to use English confidently. Through a mix of tried-and-tested techniques and fresh ideas, this session will show you how to create a lively and genuinely English-speaking environment that captures students’ interest and keeps them actively participating from start to finish. Whether you are looking for easy wins or long-term habits to embed in your lessons, you will leave with practical tools ready to implement straight away. As always, all participants will receive a detailed handout including all the information from the webinar including useful links, as well as a Certificate of Attendance.

By the end of this session, teachers will be better able to:

  • Use a range of motivating activities that encourage students to choose speaking English naturally
  • Build classroom habits that support consistent English only interaction
  • Adapt games and techniques so every learner can participate confidently
