Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we can cater for different dietary requirements in all our centres, as long as we are told in advance at the time of booking.
As keys and security cards are expensive to replace, all MLA centres require a €50/£50/$50 key and damage deposit, which is taken at arrival during the students’ registration. Providing that all keys and security cards are returned and there has been no damage to properties during the stay, the full amount will be refunded at departure. MLA uses a 1:1 exchange rate for all damage withdrawn from the deposit.
Yes, we can arrange for students to be paired once the group arrives at the centre as long as they are of the same gender and the accommodation may have twin rooms available.
Depending on the centre’s availability, we can offer single and twin standard rooms (with shared facilities) and en-suite rooms (private bathroom in the room or in the flat). Please refer to the centre descriptions for additional information.
This is really up to the individual student. However we do not recommend more than £100/$100 per week as all meals are already included. That should be enough to pay for optional activities and souvenirs.

We recommend all students bring:

  • two towels (bath towels are provided in the USA)
  • toiletries
  • travel adaptors
  • a padlock
  • a waterproof jacket
  • party clothes
  • comfortable shoes and local currency.
All fees include teaching materials, there is no need to buy extra books for the course.
Yes, all students receive an end of-course certificate along with an MLA portfolio including learning resources, daily evaluation and attendance record, day by day topics, tasks completed and material used. All of the above is subject to suitable attendance and participation in class and during activities/excursions.
Yes, all teachers are native speakers or of native speaker competence with qualifications and experience appropriate for the students’ learning needs.
In the UK centres, there is a safe where pocket money, passports and other valuables can be kept for you during your stay. In the USA, students are required to store their own money and valuables, however passports will be kept in the centre office.
Yes, they can. The teacher will monitor their progress carefully and move them to a different learning level at any time if necessary.
Yes, almost all centres have free Wi-Fi available, but sometimes there is an additional cost.

We will not permit the following behaviour:

  • Smoking anywhere is forbidden
  • Bullying. We welcome students from all different backgrounds and parts of the world. Any student found discriminating on the basis of nationality, sex, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability or age may be asked to leave the school
  • Graffiti and damage to the site
  • Disregard of the curfew
  • Misuse of fire equipment

If students misbehave and do not follow the rules, we reserve the right to discipline them. The punishment will depend on the seriousness of their actions:

  • Lose free time
  • Not give them a certificate
  • Contact their parents
  • Ask them or their parents to pay damages to cover the cost
  • Send them home
  • Contact the police
The minimum booking is for one week during spring and two weeks in the summer. However, we would encourage a 3 or 4 week stay to get the most out of your experience abroad.
From the student’s arrival in the host country to their departure, our MLA team will do everything possible to ensure they have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding stay. Students will realise that their English improves quickly with us, because they have the opportunity to practice the language every day in different settings.
We are in contact with the local doctors and hospitals should the need arise. Students who need any medication should bring it along in correctly labelled packaging which clearly states doses and times of administration.
